The best cake selection cafe from the 50s 60s very nice

Café Wahlen is one of those cafés that people like to visit to have a coffee or to eat a cake. With a great ambience, that is the core competence of Café Wahlen. The warm kitchen is well priced, but unfortunately nothing special. The quality of the service varies from waitress to waitress. For example, the waitress with a stronger statue is the positive example and figurehead of Café Wahlen in terms of service. Conclusion: There is definitely a reason why there are people who have been regular customers there for decades. However, something has to be changed here and there so that a good becomes a very good.

Traditional and well-kept café with rustic original furnishings from the 1950s. Very tasty cakes and smaller dishes. Here you can still drink filter coffee, which is very good. The audience ranges from young to old.

This is the nicest cafe that I know. If you want to enjoy a flair from the 50s, you can experience it here.

A beautiful, traditional café, in which you feel transported back into another time as soon as you enter. With delicious, home-baked cakes you can really slow down and feel like you're in a Viennese café. From now on every Sunday is a must.

Old fornitures and carpets in the tea room, tablecloth stained, I had a very bad esperience trying to have my sunday breakfast. They served me coffee and orange juice quite fastly ...but i had to wait around 20 minutes to have my toast and my piece of cake... orange juice was terrible... american coffee neutral...toast wasn't a toast apple pie was good. In the end: 1cofee 1toast 1piece of cake 1orange juice 19.50€ the electronic receipt had an entry added with a pen... no credit card accepted..

There are really delicious cakes here. For me the best from Cologne. From the inside, the shop is also a highlight. The atmosphere is like visiting grandma. It definitely has charm. Only the service could be cordial or friendly. This should be worked on

So we went here ..with pretty high expectations (cos of all the good reviews). If you've had never went here before, it's pretty hard to "find out" their system to order. U get the drinks when u sit at the table. But for food u need to go to the front. There u get a little paper (ticket) which u have to give to the servers. Then u get the cake. But if you don't know how it all works, you wait a long time to get anything except drinks. Even if you want to to ask the server for the bill, it takes ages (as they run around without looking at anyone). Other than that, the cakes were good (Eissplittertorte). Not as good as expected, but good. They've got a huge menu tho. Coffee was excellent. The style is very old-fashioned, which is pretty nice aswell. Dogs are aloud also, which is a big plus.

Wow! I‘ve been passing by this place so many times. I‘ve never expected that inside I‘ll find this charming cafe. You go in and end up in after WW2 Vienna. It‘s gorgeous. The prices are a bit high for the size of the portions though. I had an omelette with ragout fin for 12€. And the size was more of a starter. The desserts are excellent!

Very nice atmosphere and very friendly service! There is a relatively large selection of tarts, cakes and chocolates. The taste was unfortunately not quite as great as it looks to be expected. Nevertheless, highly recommended! Ideal for a romantic date!

This is a great old fashioned Café. Quiet relaxed atmosphere. Perfect waiters. And the cake is phenomenal.

A really nice, traditional and rustic cafe in the middle of Cologne. Perfect for a slice of cake and a cup of coffee. We were there on Sunday afternoons at 14 o'clock and got a table for four without problems. An hour later it became much busier. Service was friendly, cake selection famos, calories innumerable;) Definitely worth a visit!

fter taking a walk at a Park by the Rhine we looked for a cozy shelter in city center and decided to have a short stop at this legendary Cafe at the Hohenstaufenring which belongs to Old Town City-Cologne South. I never heard about this institution at all, but my loving Guide did: Here we come, with some thirst and hunger... After having some thoughts at the Cake Bar, my choice fell on the Baumkuchen Cake (the two Jr. und Sr. Gentlemen got Strawberry & Rapsberry Cakes). The Price of the Cake, Cold n Hot Drinks are very moderate which is IMHO a lot cheaper than Cafe Reichart but also less tastier, prettier and smaller. I'd somehow perfer somewhere more stylish, perfect location and more yummy cakes. :D Service Oriented Staffs. If you really look for some Nostalgia and are fond of 'Oldies' this Cafe is very recommended.
